Grand Stage of World Stamp Contest In the Limelight 60 Nations Around the Globe Participate Eagerly
Thailand Post prepares for the launch of THAILAND 2013 World Stamp Exhibition’s grand opening where stamp lovers from all over the world assembling to present their exceptional masterpiece of rare stamps and prove who the best are. Let’s enjoy the brand new exhibit frames invested nearly ten millions for this grand stamp event ever.
Ms.Parisa Pananond, Vice President on Corporate and Marketing Communications Department, Thailand Post Company Limited revealed that the international stamp competition held in THAILAND 2013 at Royal Paragon Hall, 5th Floor Siam Paragon during August 2 – 8, are well responded by the forefront philatelists from every part of the world. The participating exhibits come from 60 countries across 5 continents comprising approximately 500 quality collections, mounted on over 2,300 frames.
Among of them are 25 countries from Europe, 21 from Asia, 11 from America, 2 from Australia and 1 from Africa. The competition is categorized in 13 classes. The most three popular classes are the Traditional Philately in total of 112 exhibits, Postal History 99 exhibits and Thematic Philately 64 exhibits, respectively.
“Promotional Class” – the most newly introduced exhibit class will be included aiming to encourage new-generation collectors to present their frames in this event. Thailand can be regarded as one of the first host-countries who accept this new class. Nevertheless, only 5 participants are joining.
For the world class competition under the patronage of the Fédération Internationale de Philatélie (F.I.P.), Thailand Post Co., Ltd. provides 1,200 new frames or 2,400 pages replacing old ones which have been used for 20 years. Costing nearly THB 10 million, these modern frames are made of Aluminium composite which are light and easily movable. Another advantage is triangular setup facilitating to be seen comfortably.
